Cost benchmarks

Florida PEO cost by employee count.

Realistic monthly PEO cost ranges for Florida businesses at common headcount tiers — 10, 25, 50, 100, and 250 employees. Includes admin fees, workers' comp impact, and what drives variation within each band.

Ranges are illustrative for education. Actual pricing depends on industry, workers' comp class codes, benefits selection, and provider.

10 employees

Monthly admin range

Total admin / month

$600 – $1,400

Per employee

$60 – $140 PEPM

Admin fees per employee tend to be on the higher end at this size — but this is also where access to better benefits via the PEO produces the biggest jump in value.

25 employees

Monthly admin range

Total admin / month

$1,250 – $3,250

Per employee

$50 – $130 PEPM

The classic PEO sweet spot. Workers' comp pooling and benefits buying power start producing measurable savings against direct-placed alternatives.

50 employees

Monthly admin range

Total admin / month

$2,250 – $6,000

Per employee

$45 – $120 PEPM

ACA reporting and benefits administration burden grow nonlinearly — consolidating through a PEO often eliminates several hours of weekly admin.

100 employees

Monthly admin range

Total admin / month

$4,000 – $11,000

Per employee

$40 – $110 PEPM

Per-employee fees drop, but benefits pricing becomes more competitive market-wide. The PEO decision often hinges on technology and HR support rather than admin price.

250 employees

Monthly admin range

Total admin / month

$9,000 – $25,000

Per employee

$36 – $100 PEPM

Some employers at this size begin to evaluate carrier-direct benefits with internal HR. The PEO is still often the better total-cost answer if comp risk is meaningful.

What's NOT in these ranges

The numbers above reflect admin fees only. Two larger cost components sit outside admin and need separate evaluation:

  • Workers' compensation: billed as a percent of payroll by class code. Construction, manufacturing, and staffing employers often see this be the largest line item.
  • Benefits premiums: if you elect group medical and ancillary through the PEO, those premiums are separate. They often beat what you'd pay on the small-group market directly.
